Day 1: El Paso to Van Horn, Texas
Nothing like breaking the 100 mile barrier on the first day to get a bike tour off to a good start and thatŐs just what we did: 121 miles, 2100 vertical feet (meaning flat!) across the creosote plains of west Texas.
Thirty-two riders, our two most superb sag drivers (Carol & Kathleen), plus two brave newbies gathered in El Paso at last yearŐs ending point with smiles and hugs all around. The two new riders are: Geni (Steve ParkerŐs wife) and Nate who will pilot our blind rider, Ron Barton, on one of the tandems.

Jane, Julia, Terry, Jerry, Norman, David, & Ruth spin along the chip seal.
Our first day pedaling filled itself with spinning along frontage roads near I-10 and fixing a lots of flats: 23 in all with Rich Crocker taking the individual prize of four (heŐs always sticking out some way or another)!

Sag Queen Kathleen lends a spare tube as Mark & Charlotte fix their second flat
