March 27: Gainesville to St Augustine, Florida

We made it!  Headwinds and a hundred miles – who cares!  We did it.

Just as we dipped our back tires in the Pacific, we dipped our front tires in the Atlantic, nearly 3,000 miles later.  Jerry and Steve presented all the riders with a gold medal and a scrumptious group dinner and celebration.

To record the event, we compiled a short (6 min) video that gives the sense of this leg of our trip and especially the wonderful end on the beach in St Augustine, Florida.  Watch the video by clicking:

And now, to end the web reporting for this trip, we want to thank Jerry & Steve who led this trip like no others could have, Kathleen and Carol who have raised the bar on sagging bike tours above anything we could have imagined, and a special thanks to our intrepid map-maker, Andy Anderson, whose mug shot has yet to make it on to the web and who glides along on his bike as effortlessly as we follow the lead of his wonderful maps.  Thanks Andy!
