Team WIMP was officially disband today, after only one day in existence, as it was a low traffic, screamer ride all the way from Globe to Safford; AZ: 79 miles and 1,850 vertical feet; wide shoulders; millions of California poppies and bright violet-blue loco weeds blooming along the roadside; expansive views of high desert volcanic mesas and distant mountains, and our first REAL tailwind. Nearly everyone was at the hotel in Safford by 2pm. Yahoo!
Safford is an agricultural town located along the Gila River. Fields of harvested cotton lay along the flat river valley. This afternoon, though, people seem more interested in soaking in the hot tub than the cotton fields. Can't imagine why.
